Comfortable! I find them very comfortable. I like to wear them with fishnet stocking. The trick is finding o0ne that firs you correctly. A bit too small and it can feel like a pair of jeans that are a size too small LOL

Garters are never comfortable to me either :(
I have a few garters and stockings from Victoria's and Frederick's. Both are fine. I find that the clips can come undone easily so sometimes I need to readjust them. Mainly it just seems to take longer to put them on which can be a killer if I'm rushing around. I tend to just wear pantyhose or thigh highs - by the way I have good luck with the thigh highs from Hanes - they fit well and are pretty comfortable.
