Would you care? Would you do it? Are certain States forgiven from this fashion rule? How would you pull it? I went to Banana Republic last week and finally found the crispy white shirt that I have been wanting to wear with my black vest. Today, I am having second thoughts. Mind you that I am in Central Florida and this shirt may be right for the weather. Besides, famous designer Carolina Herrera says that black and white are always in style and that every woman should have that staple shirt for all occasions. ![]() Here is how I have planned to wear the outfit. Any thoughts?

IMO, that rule has been thrown out the window! I think white it completely appropriate (and refreshing) year-round...especially if it is a crisp, white, classic shirt!

| For me the wite blouse would be okay, as for shoes/handbags nope, unless it's a sneaker. Can't do it even here in CA, I am old school like that. Of course, then I wear flip-flops in winter. Um so yeah. No for me. LOL. Now a winter white...then we could talk perhaps. LOL.

I agree... it depends on situation and item - but for the most part, that rule no longer applies across the board. Since you're in FL, you can be forgiven things that I just can't get away with here in Michigan... Generally for me, stark white is a no-no on shoes & accessories from Fall to early Spring, and I don't typically think white pants would be acceptable during the colder, winter months. (I even have a hard time getting behind a white bag for winter.) However, white and winter white are two different things... so winter white can bring a refreshing twist to Fall/Winter clothing and make it acceptable regardless of zip. However, given your example - a basic white business shirt, I think that would be acceptable year-round, regardless of season or location. It's pretty much a business wardrobe staple item, so I say go for it! Oh... and that outfit is totally hot!! I would wear it in any season!!

I wear white shirts all year round. Don't wear white pants or use white accessories in the fall or winter though. But you're in a warmer climate so you could probably get away with anything in white all year round

Southern Arizona is okay for white year round. I don't generally wear white shoes past end of September but anything else is fair game. The white with black combo always works well regardless of season.

White shirts are year round...the weather doesn't really start to change here until like October so until then, I would say white pants are still okay, but maybe paired with black or something that's not so "summery"....like Di said, I think it depends more on the item and the situation.
