Haha I just did this yesterday and wondered the same thing!! And I came to the same conclusion as you all did - if it fits well and looks awesome, why not?? It's so hard to find tops that fit just right AND look fabulous, so when I find something I love, I pick up more than one! :)

If something is flattering and you enjoy wearing it, why not buy it in a few colours, i certainly do !..

Do a web search on 'Tim Gunn's 10 essential peices of clothing' and make sure you have the essentials in your wardrobe..

The banana republic top looks hot with a classic dress pants.

I am wearing this top from Banana Republic today in blue:

I saw the Tangelo color in the store, and I think it came in a few others (Green & Black) in the store as well... I was thinking about going back and getting more of them. Just trying to figure out if I'm crazy, because I do this alot with shirts & pants.

Do you think its better to have lots of things in different colors that work - or more variety?

my mom also does this with tank tops. She buys like 3 of each color and saves the other two for when one fades or gets damaged. which leaves extras for me to borrow with out he notice =X loll

you know what? i didn't start doing that till recently. it's actually pretty smart because a different color can really change how the top looks, as well as how it may look on you. so, we're right on the money with this idea.

I think that pretty much everyone does this. And while some people buy the same top or shoes in the same colours, the rest of us subconciously buy clothes of the same style! I mean, I never reallly noticed, but when I went through my wardrobe, I realised that most of my skirts, dresses, shirts and pants are pretty much the same style! Sure, there are variations, but they all more or less have something in common! =]
