I wanted to let everyone know that newegg.com is having a great deal today on computer stuff and electronics. One thing that I really want to suggest everyone gets is an external hard drive (HDD). While it might not seem like a big deal it will be if you lose all your data and do not have a backup. Also remember that experts suggest replacing all hard drives (HDD) every three years to avoid those unexpected HDD failures. I picked up a nice western digital HDD 750 GB for $129.00. For those of us who use Mac OS X the backup is easy and happens without us and in the background. For the PC users the HDD comes with backup software.

Hard Drives, Internal or External, All available at Newegg.com

I was just looking at external hard drives this morning. Buy.com has a Western Digital 1TB for $135. Good price but it's a pretty large box and I don't need that much space. I found a portable Western Digital 320GB for $95 on Amazon.

I need to start storing my stuff on an external hard drive. Between me and the boy we have like 7 old hard drives laying around that we have only partially transferred.

To back up your files. If something happens to your hard drive on your computer, you're screwed. If you have important files, pictures, and music, it'll all be lost. An alternative if you have a DVD burner, is to burn everything to DVDs every 3 months or so. Those are about 20-30 bucks now so I plan on getting one of those as well, and plan to back everything up to DVDs and keep them in a firebox. After the frightening fire debacle in May, I'm so paranoid and keep anything of value in a firebox. I can't enjoy the one picture I have of my grandparents because it's locked up Or you can just use a jump drive/dongle if you have one big enough instead of DVDs.
