while I realize not everyone has a Mac, I am focusing today's blog on mac protection and productivity. As a few of you might know, Apple recently suggested using anti-virus software to protect your computer. When I first got my macbook almost three years ago I did a lot of researching and a lot of people were saying it was not needed. My thought to this was while as the Mac OS X operating system become more popular the possibility of malware becoming more prevalent will cause problem for those who are unable to detect such these problems. I decided that I wanted to make sure I was prepared. I purchased Virus-Barrier along with little snitch and Network Barrier. This combination worked perfectly protecting me from viruses and malware (not virus but product you install yourself) and little snitch kept programs from calling home and prevents transmission of sensitive information from applications which shouldn't be transmitting. Further down the road I had a severe hard drive crash while working on my thesis. The worst had happened, I had a failing hard drive. several archive and reinstalls worked however this was only a temp solution. It wasn't until my hard drive cashed and I wasn't able to fix it did I turn to Drive Genius which saved about 1.3 years of data collection which was worth more than its weight in diamonds.

All of these applications are actually being pre-packaged in an awesome little winter special sale through mac update. If you take the security of your data seriously I would highly suggest purchasing bundle. If you are not sure the company is also allowing a full trial version of the bundle containing these three applications plus other.

Don't Let Holiday Flying Stress You Out

The holiday season is one of the most popular times to travel. It is also a time of higher security threats and unpredictable weather. The result is that flying during the holidays can be expensive and unpleasant. Here are some tips to make your flying experience more enjoyable.

1) Don't fly the day before or after a holiday. That's when everyone wants to fly, and the cost of your ticket will reflect the high demand.

2) Book flights with as few stops as possible. The holiday season is prone to inclement weather. If you plan multiple stops, you are that much more likely to have a flight delayed or cancelled.

3) Check your bags. It may seem like a pain, but security regulations on hand luggage are a lot stricter than on checked luggage. If you carry your bag onto the plane, you risk losing your cologne or lotion among other things.

4) If you're catching an early flight, stay overnight in an airport hotel. Your flight will be more pleasant if you are well rested, and many hotels will let you leave your car in their lot until you return.

If you have any flying tips please share them with the rest of us.

I wanted to let everyone know that newegg.com is having a great deal today on computer stuff and electronics. One thing that I really want to suggest everyone gets is an external hard drive (HDD). While it might not seem like a big deal it will be if you lose all your data and do not have a backup. Also remember that experts suggest replacing all hard drives (HDD) every three years to avoid those unexpected HDD failures. I picked up a nice western digital HDD 750 GB for $129.00. For those of us who use Mac OS X the backup is easy and happens without us and in the background. For the PC users the HDD comes with backup software.

Over the past year I noticed that some high end designers are creating lines of clothing and accessories specifically for Target. Today I made an effort to look into this, specifically the Botkier for Target Collection.

The material is decent, and worth the price, I do not expect to get a high end bag for a mere fraction of the cost. I do however love the ability to have a "throw around" bag and got this cute clutch for going out. It was one clearance and definitely worth 14.00.

Botkier for Target® Wristlet - Rose : Target

I think the whole designers for Target is a good idea, this way it does allow people who cannot afford the "real thing" to not buy a fake bag, but rather stop and buy something thats still made by a high end designer.

Over the past year my hair has been thinning in part to an increased amount of stress that I have been under since starting medical school. I was about to go the wig/fake hair route when I decided to give my hair one last chance.

A quick trip to the salon and my problem is almost solved.

Basically with layering my hair (shortest being on top and in the back) I am able to create a fuller look. I start by adding root spray to the top of my head ( Volumizing Spray™ ) then I just do a quick blow dry to get most of the moisture out. After that its time to style by using a round brush and brushing up.

Before:
After:

What trendy/stylish men's wallet would be good for a 26yr old law student? He wears brand names in clothes i.e., armani suits and wears burberry; also has burberry wallet, the dark brown from 4 yrs ago. I was thinking of possibly Prada, Coach, Gucci but nothing flashy, just the plain black colored ones. What are your thoughts?

:tup

Well, hello world. I am here to bring you my witty antics via blog form... and most likely will have to post rebuttals to them about 24 hours after I post, once I realize how crazy I sound!! LOL... :cookoo

Anyhow, I can't believe I've not taken advantage of this wonderful feature before now... considering how much I love to talk & rant, but I've had a bit of a "up & down" couple of months - so things are just getting back to "normal" for me. (Catching those up that didn't have to read my thousands of "woe is me" threads... car accident in Feb., trying to get the car situation sorted out until end of May after duking it out with the insurance, family members in the hospital, family members in crazy personal situations, etc, etc...) Sooooo.... I think I've finally come to the conclusion that I need to get back to what is me. You know... my "core" personality. I feel like I've been kind of blowing in the breeze lately, but I think its that kind of "mid-20s" lull that I'm in. Don't get me wrong, 25 is pretty fun... I'm just starting to realize, that 23 was alot MORE fun then 25... :rolleyes

Soooooo..... I've been re-evaluating my bag collection. Right now I want a "usable" bag collection, where I don't have a ton of bags hanging around that I don't ever get around to using. We've probably got at least a few more career moves (which will entail physical location moves as well) coming in the future, so I'm trying to keep my possessions to a reasonable level. Clothing & shoes included. So I've had a few bags go out, a few more anticipated back in - and I'm sure I'll be blogging more about it in the future.

Back to the "finding my center" topic again, or whatever you want to call it. I was a dancer for so long that it was basically my existence and being... that is what I woke up and was. Coming over into the business world "exclusively" has been quite the transition, sometimes I think I'm doing okay at it, other times I feel like a fish out of water... but I guess everyone feels that sometimes. Sometimes I like being exclusively in business alot, and other times I wished I was still dancing. But at the heart of it, there's still the "core me"... the personality & pizzazz... :graucho I just want to make sure that it doesn't get swept under the rug as I'm making my career transition and decide what to do for the future.

Lately, I've been thinking more and more about how to keep dance in my life for the future. Eventually owning another dance studio? Or just doing the dancewear stuff a bit more? I haven't decided yet.

So, that's my goal right now! Get back to my sparking self and evaluate where I want to go for the future... More updates hopefully soon. :smile

Hi all-

I used my friend's May CE to get her a wristlet, myself a pair of shoes on sale, and a last minute decision to get the remaining "must have" on my list.

Here she is

I am just not sure I am still in with her. Maybe it is that I want Tattersall lining instead of legacy, or that I had a FABULOUS time at the outlet yesterday and got a bag that would serve the same purpose???

Anyway, I purchased this GiGi last week with a May CE after lusting after this bag since my March trip to NYC. I forgot to order her during the March PCE and then decided not to get her with the April $50 coupon. Should I have taken that as a sign???

I am giving it till the end of the week before I return her, maybe it will be love at second sight?

I just think I am still drunk off receiving my Black Lily

Well, today my DH decided he wanted to go to the outlets for some pants and sandals so we headed out.

Of course I went to Coach and got the following goodies. [sorry for the bad pics, camera is charging]

I got the scarf 'cause it was gorgeous, the wallet because I am really liking the small wallets, and the multi-function tote because it was 40% off and my motto is always the bigger the better [I am taking back the large tote to keep this "baby" bag].
